Once a custom notification has been adding, selecting the notification will bring up a screen similar to below:
Custom notification settings screen |
You can alter the name of the notification to something meaningful by pressing on the pencil icon at the top right.
The following options are available, although not all notification types will have all these options.
Notification title contains
You can switch this setting on an off. If it's on then this notification will only trigger if the notification title contains the text listed here. It'll be automatically filled with the information from the outstanding notification but you can change the text by pressing the pencil icon.
Notification message contains
You can switch this setting on an off. If it's on then this notification will only trigger if the notification message contains the text listed here. It'll be automatically filled with the information from the outstanding notification but you can change the text by pressing the pencil icon.
Notification icon matches
You can switch this setting on and off. If it's on it'll only trigger the notification if it matches the notification shown here. This is handy for apps that raise multiple types of notifications.
Notification person matches
You can switch this setting on and off. If it's on, then the notification will only trigger if the contact matches the contact listed here.
The contact can be shown as a
- Phone number
- Mailto: email address
- Picture and name of a person.
Note if you see content:// and then a long list of numbers and letters then Light Flow has not been granted access to the contact to show a picture and the name of the person. This won't stop the notification from working but it's harder to see which contact this notification refers to.
Notification ongoing
This can be switched on and off. This allows the notification to only trigger if the notification's ongoing status matches the outstanding notification you based it from. Notifications are either ongoing (ie can't be swiped away) or can be dismissed.
Notification priority
This can be switched on and off. This allows Light Flow to only trigger the notification if the priority matches the priority of the outstanding notification you based this on. Priority can vary between MIN and MAX
Notification big message text contains
You can switch this setting on an off. If it's on then this notification will only trigger if the notification big message contains the text listed here. It'll be automatically filled with the information from the outstanding notification but you can change the text by pressing the pencil icon.
This is often used to display information such as the actual text of an email.
Stop others
Once this notification has triggered the default functionality is to stop processing other Light Flow notifications.
This is great for example to use with contact specific notification.
You can set up several notifications for an app. A generic one and then maybe several contact specific ones.
If you then set the generic one to the lowest priority and the contact specific notifications to a higher priority then only the contact specific notification will trigger in Light Flow.
If you switch "stop others" off then notification trigger processing will continue and potentially trigger other notifications.
Note that Light Flow notification priority is different to the specific notification priority (MIN->MAX) highlighted above. Light Flow notification priority is the order of all notifications processed within Light Flow. It is accessed via the button highlighted below.

Can the asterisk operator (*) be used to denote a character or number? I want to get notified where there's a time specific (not an all day) calendar event. Thanks.
